What’s a Better Adjective/Interjection Than:

Dang. The event that will happen at Metro tomorrow night is turning out to be not just a rock show, but a Most Spectacular Extravaganza. We’ll be giving out FREE CDS of one of the tracks we just recorded with Sean O’Keefe, our NEW TSHIRTS are scheduled to be there, and we have a few more fun surprises lined up.

Also, our Tenor Sax player’s band, Kemman, has been added to the bill. It’s their triumphant return to the stage after a baby-centric hiatus. Make sure to get your tickets in advance so you don’t miss out on all of this! See our Shows section for more info and how to get tickets for only $6.

And Now a Word From CO&HG

Post-Metro Report

There’s one word to sum up our headlining Metro show: “SUCCESS!” All the bands brought their A-game, the audience was pumped, the Metro staff were delightful, and it was FUN. Thank you to everyone who came out to the show, performed, or worked at the venue that night. Everything was perfect.

And a special thanks to Chad from Chateau GRRR for taking video of the entire night!

But after all that excitement, Cobalt is going to lay low for a bit and work on the new record (we’re recording trumpet on Saturday!!). So, stay tuned……..

How You Like THAT.

Cobalt is on FIRE.

After a successful benefit show at the Hideout and two days of recording at Tribeca Flashpoint Academy, we’ve just been confirmed at the Metro for January 7, 2011. Stay tuned for more details on that. In the meantime catch us at another benefit show, this time for Howard Brown. See our Shows section for more info.

Dance Party CATHG

Thank you Elbo Room, Chicago Roots Collective, all the bands and all the fans who helped make the Chicago Roots Collective Festival a great time last night.

That’s gonna be a hard show to beat, but we’re sure gonna try. Specifically, we’ll be trying at the Hideout on Nov 27 for The Big Tranny Hootenanny. It’s a benefit for our good friend, Owen, who is in need of surgery, but is also in need of the funds to go through with said surgery.

The Homoticons, Cobalt & the Hired Guns, Andrew Brown, and Kareem Khubchandani will heroically play sets starting at 9pm. Afterward, Ang Peoples DJ Collective provide music for the DANCE PARTY!! Yes. You read that right. Dance party. This is going to be awesome. And all to help a friend in need.

So, come, listen, dance and have fun, you won’t even realize you’re doing your good deed for the day.

ROCK SHOW ALERT

We’re playing at Subterranean tomorrow (Tuesday 10/26/10) with Noise by Numbers (ex-Screeching Weasel) and The Magnificent. Doors at 8pm, Cobalt takes the stage promptly at 8:30.

Sure they say we’re going to be having the worst storm in the last 70 years, but if this city’s gonna go to hell, don’t you want to be at an awesome rock show with readily-available food and booze while it happens??

C’monnnnn. It’ll be fun. If the power goes out we’ll all snuggle.

Big Time

Well, where to start?

There have been some big changes in the world of Cobalt and the Hired Guns since we last reported, and soon all those changes will be reflected in this here website. We’ve been cookin’  up some exciting stuff an’ the smell comin’ from the Cobalt kitchen is deeeelicious. We’re working hard on the new album, we’ve got some awesome shows coming up, new photos and videos are on their way, and there’s rumor of some Secret Weapons to be unveiled at our live shows and on the album, but shhhhhh! They’re seeeeeeecrettttttt. In fact, I may have already said too much.

Basically, we took a bit of a break over the summer, but now we’re back. Big time.
